Introducing – SPINN

THE BACKSTORY: #ApproachableLads from Liverpool and the self described connoisseurs of Jangly Dream Pop are the hottest band in Liverpool right now.

Words: Alex McCann / Cover Photo: Sam Crowston

Signed to Modern Sky records (the indie label of the moment and home of The Blinders, Calva Louise and Slow Readers Club) there’s a sense that Spinn could do for the label what Oasis did for Creation and The Smiths did for Rough Trade. They have the potential to break through to the mainstream in an absolutely huge way.

Although their latest single “Believe It Or Not” is a love letter to Liverpool and an “attempt to channel the happiness and vibe of classic scouse pop units such as The La’s, The Lighting Seeds and the Beatles” their sound owes more to a little known city down the M60. It’s the sound of long summer days spent listening to Johnny Marr playing guitar and harks back to a time before Morrissey went full on gammon. It’s an absolute melodious joy.

Their sold out hometown shows are mess of sweaty bodies in the pit who sing along to every single word and the rest of the world are catching on.

“Notice Me” alone has been streamed 2.6 million times on Spotify Their self titled debut album is out in May and they’re doing a full UK tour which looks set to sell out soon. Spinn are the greatest export from Liverpool since Brookside
