INTRODUCING – Slow Pulp

The Back Story – Just two years after the self release of their first EP, female fronted Chicago based ‘Slow Pulp’ have come out with a highly impressive self produced second EP. Combining modern indie rock with post-punk riffs and psychedelic tones.

Listening to ‘High’ from the EP ‘Big Day’ it is clear to see how a follower of this particular genre could become a fan in a matter of seconds. The song is initially soft and slow and really confronts the listener with the intimacy of the vocals before taking a step back for moment, only for the band to kick in with a drop that gets the blood pumping. ‘Big Day’ is quite minimalist compared to the bands previous work and not in a negative way. Simple yet thick riffs encompass the listener, demanding attention. ‘Big Day’ sparks nostalgia through the reminiscence of early 2000s post-grunge whilst remaining modern and worthy of popularity.

Key track: ‘High’
