Introducing: Pink Cigs

The backstory:  Forged in the steely scenes of Sheffield are four-piece rock band, Pink Cigs. The band consists of Cris (guitar/vocals), Fids (guitar/vocals/keys), Babs (bass/vocals) and Kyle (drums).

They formed in 2016 in Lughole, a DIY punk venue in Sheffield, where they had all played in other bands over the years. Sheffield’s punk scene is a close-knit community, so it’s easy to see how they ended up crossing paths and getting together for a jam.

Pink Cigs quickly hit it off and soon after their formation they penned their first song ‘Black Widow’. Fast forward to 2018 and the lads released their EP which was recorded with James Atkinson from Gentleman’s Pistols. The EP was featured on Classic Rock magazine’s compilation of the best new bands on the planet, as well as featured on a live session for BBC Introducing’s Februheavy month.

Recently the boys have recorded their full album with Bri Doom at 1 in 12 Club in Bradford. It is due to be released next month in December and they have been supporting Monster Truck on their tour of the UK, which they say were some of the best gigs they’ve ever played.

Cris tells me it’s now time for a bit of relaxing.

“At the moment we’re having fun jamming in our practice room in preparation for 2020. We’re kicking things off in March next year with a tour of South East Asia.”
