If we stopped recording music from this point, we would never run out of
new songs to listen to before the end of our lives. Would that be a particularly bad
thing? Especially with a vast amount of new music just being a rehash of the last big
thing. The answer is yes, that would be a bad thing, as we would not be
able to hear new music from Mealtime.
Mealtime’s new single “Sublime” released as a single with accompanying music
video is unlike any music I personally have ever heard before. The group are
merging the line between band and electronic collective. The new single “sublime” is
as it says on the tin and it is deserving of national radio coverage at least. The synth
and tech-driven song blends genres of electronic music with elements of modern
punk and UK hip hop with the subtle familiarity of 90s electronic feel. mainly through
instrument choice. The song feels driven and massive, it remains interesting
throughout with a superbly clean, yet ever-changing mix and arrangement. The
accompanying video is equally as impressive.
Mealtime are Manchester’s next big export to the world. As of this moment there are only three singles from Mealtime, plus a remix with radio edit, but there are sure to be many more. The band are
increasing in popularity and increasingly featured. Keep your eyes peeled and
ears pinned for Mealtime.
