Rising electro-pop star Lilura announces release of intoxicating new track Nylon

Jemma Tweedie, otherwise known as LILURA, has announced the release of her most ambitious track to date. Hailing from the Scottish Highlands, the young singer-songwriter has evolved in recent years from a background in acoustic performances into owning stages from the UK to LA with her own brand of dreamy electro-pop.

Taking inspiration from the likes of Billie Eilish, Charli XCX and Halsey, LILURA’s forthcoming track Nylon is a glittering electro-pop ode to female empowerment.

Nylon is a song for girls who aren’t afraid to ‘call the shots’ inside and outside of the bedroom,” LILURA explains. “There’s a strength in the female physique and mind. We can be really headstrong but in the past, we were taught to keep quiet and not to speak about our ambitions or sex lives as it was taboo. I think things are definitely changing and we are becoming confident in voicing our opinions letting it be known what we want. It’s about taking control of our femininity and empowering ourselves, pushing boundaries confidently without worrying what other people think.”

The sultry new single invites you into LILURA’s dark pop dreamland with an undeniable hook before a bubbling verse unleashes into a chorus that highlights her impressive vocal abilities and formidable talent as a songwriter.

In the past LILURA has collaborated with the likes of Dan Richards (One Direction) on her previous single Darkest Desire. This time she co-wrote the track with Edinburgh electronic producer and singer-songwriter, Kohla: “This is the first song I’ve released as a co-write with my good friend Rachel (Kohla). We met through social media when she reached out to me as a fan of my music and I fell in love with her style. I think we are very similar in terms of our goals and ambitions. We always speak about creative ideas and what we want so I’m looking forward to seeing where this takes us.”

From King Tuts to Belladrum Festival, LILURA has been captivating crowds up and down the country this summer. With songs that have been supported by BBC Music Introducing and garnered great reviews – LILURA is definitely one to watch for 2020 and beyond.
