THE BACKSTORY: SCARLXRD (real name Marius Lucas Antonio Listhrop) first appeared on Youtube back in 2012. Wolverhampton born Antonio’s videos had a cheery tone and showed the now rapper and vocalist partake in mischievous teenage endeavors and ‘story time’ Vlogs. Despite his success as a youtuber, in 2017 he changed his youtube name from Mazzi Maz to SCARLXRD, later saying he found the experience “soul-destroying”.
Fast forward to the present and SCARLXRD has released his newest album “Infinity”, which fuses an assortment of genres, the main themes being speaker ripping trap beats and face melting screams. From listening to the opening track “I WANT TX SEE YXU BLEED” you will instantly know if this Anime inspired artist is your cup of tea, but it is undeniable that he CAN rap. “BERZERK” offers an electrifying flow which is sure to make you tilt your head and reminisce about your EMO days, yet at the same time listen to the whole of Kendrick Lamar’s “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City” from start to finish.
As for his live shows SCARLXRD delivers an aggressive performance which is sure to leave you with a nose bleed, and possibly a concussion, but we guarantee an eye opening experience.
His next UK show is All Points East festival in London on the 31st May 2019 as part of his world tour.
