Introducing – Gus Dapperton

Gus Dapperton is a one off. The best way to understand what the 22 year old is all about is by watching his quirky yet cinematically eye pleasing Music videos. “Prune You Talk Funny” which starts with him being chased down a long country road half naked playing a start thats best described as dripping with chorus. You start to see that Gus dapperton is the wet dream of every hipster, dances like a young Morrisey yet has abundance of style and swagger which comes across in his music.

The Back story – Gus Dapperton, (Real name Brendan Rice) developed an interest in hip hop listening to the likes of MF DOOM and J Dilla. Though influence of friends and pure curiosity Dapperton then started experimenting with Garage band and sampling.

One of his latest tracks “Fill me up Anthem” sees the the New York based artist experiment with raspy vocal delivery, retroactive Apreggios from his trusty Roland Juno 106.

The charismatic delivery of his songs and his portrayal of frustration is something that is not necessarily hard to find in recent in times, however Gus executes this with finesse and makes me wonder where the Artist will be in 5 years.

No matter the outcome from this point on expect big things from the kid with the Neon bowl cut.

Gus is currently embarking on a world tour and His next show in Manchester is on 23rd of July.
