NINA NESBITT – The Sun Will Come Up Tour / Manchester Academy 2

Reinventing herself for her latest album ‘The Sun Will Come Up, The Seasons Will Change’, Nina Nesbitt is back; and she’s returned with a new attitude, vibe, and a renegade resolve.

This pop powerhouse has risen from the ashes from her previous career in a cloud of glittery, pink, bad-bitch smoke; evolving into a mature woman, with a relatable and infectious perspective, truly becoming ‘Somebody Special’.

Oozing style and panache; once our darling caterpillar, you’ll catch this vibrant butterfly performing nationwide, adorning her stages with flowers and chic neon – these are riotously exciting times for this versatile Scottish artist.

Tracks on this album are effortlessly beautiful, much like her onstage presence. She fluently transitions between her former guitar-driven folk-pop into a sleek and shiny pop princess with an R&B soupçon; bringing out her signature acoustic guitar mid-set, providing us with the nostalgia trip we didn’t know we needed.

Nesbitt is undoubtedly comfortable with her new guise. In between songs she makes talking to her audience comparable to gossiping amongst her inner circle of friends; really inviting the crowd to relate to her and her performance. If you’re planning to attend one of Nesbitt’s shows, be prepared to feel a part of a conversation – each listener welcomed with an open invitation to join her girl gang.

The only puzzlement in this endeavour, was the injection of two rather confusing covers of the famous hits ‘Toxic’ and ‘Say My Name’. Luckily, with her vocal abilities Nesbitt pulled off this task – however, should artists whom are this established, still be hiding behind popular hits to continue audience engagement? Let us know your opinions.

All in all, a big salute to Nina for coming back from her extensive 5 year album break with such tenacity, and we look forward to what is to come from her. Be sure to support her mission, by picking up a ‘Nina Nes-bitch’ t-shirt from her sassy merch store.
