INTRODUCING: PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS

Stumbling across them in 2017 after a Kyuss binge the Newcastle 5 piece have gone from strength to strength since their ridiculous 3 track and 36 minutes long debut Feed the Pigs.

Fitting snugly into the Stoner rock boundaries set by Kyuss and other pioneers Sleep, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs do little to change the genre signifiers set before them instead preferring to perfect a style sorely under represented in today’s music landscape to great effect. Of course this does not mean no change exists synths, non existent in the genre before, make appearances on songs such as GNT but they are few and far between, mostly sticking to the genre stalwarts of de-tuned guitars and bass. While the energy of such a band is near impossible to capture within a studio setting their debut album, King of Cowards, was a masterclass in the genre with sludgy riffs and operatic vocal takes.

Since forming seven years ago they have been on a steady upwards trajectory and with a cavalcade of sold out gigs ever since their debut to the world 3 years ago they are a must to go see live. While a constant on Radio 6 there abrasive nature and tendencies to songs spilling way over pops allotted 3:30 run time leads to them to a niche audience, though with the surprise success of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard in the last few years a burst into the mainstream consciousness is certainly not out of the question.
