INTRODUCING – Philip Whitehead

THE BACK STORY: From leaving school at 16 and touring with blues bands and working as a labourer in his home town to realizing his first single in 2017 – West London Singer, Songwriter and Producer, Philip Whitehead takes you on a journey of lushly layered vocal melodies yet at the same time explores ‘The existential vacuum of survival’ on the lead single ‘Cairo’ taken from his upcoming debut EP ‘Combray’

‘Cairo’ is a folk tune reminiscent of Neil Young’s halcyon era, sprinkled with some modern production techniques and beautiful whispery vocal harmonies. Despite the loss of his mother in early 2018 while preparing to record this EP, his lyrics have a touch of magical realism and its clear to see that Philip approaches his lyrics from a deep and sometimes uncomfortable place – clearly shown when he sings ‘All the silver skins are empty, and the flower bed is covered in my bones.’

From listening to the debut track it’s evident that this newest EP is going to be something to look forward to.
