“I am an image-maker, but I’ve become a painter” says Gina Birch, formerly of The Raincoats, in regard to the art exhibition she’s unleashing this weekend. That was her earliest endeavour, spending her younger days studying at Hornsby College Of Art. In the years of unstoppable work that have built up behind her, Birch got her hands dirty making post punk music, exploring the shortruntime super 8 camera, directing music videos and taking a deep dive into London’s squat scene, but never returned to her first love until now, which is now being documented at the ever flourishing Gallery 46, each acrylic telling a new expressionistic tale.
