black midi – New Single: ‘Talking Heads’

The hype surrounding London’s black midi has not come without adequate justification, following their last single ‘crows perch’ released in March, the perplexing 4-piece strike again with another genre defying number – ‘Talking heads’ is an audacious approach to a more accessible black midi sound, with singer Geordie Greep stating:

“We’ve always tried to make it heavy but danceable, melodic but good rhythms. It is accessible music, there are experimental aspects that we’ve taken from when we went crazy at the beginning, we’ve just reigned it in to make something that is pop music.”

We can speculate the title is a likely nod to innovative 70’s post-punk legends Talking Heads, fronted by David Byrne, and after amassing a cult following based on their similar eclectic nature – the emerging young band continue to prove why they are one of Britain’s hottest prospects.

‘Talking Heads’ & ‘Crows Perch’ will be released on a double A sided 12inch through Rough Trade on 17th May – pre order it here: https://bm.ffm.to/talkingheads
